Wilson & Clas Avoids Any Additional Jail Time for Serious DWI Charges

Wilson’s client was charged with a second-degree DWI after being involved in a car accident in Bloomington, MN (Hennepin County). He had numerous prior DWI convictions throughout his adult life. Just under a month after his release from jail, while the first DWI charge was still pending, the client was arrested for another second-degree DWI. Both driving while impaired charges carried mandatory minimum jail penalties, which the firm was ultimately able to avoid by launching an aggressive and proactive defense. Overall, the client was ordered to serve a nominal period of house arrest on both files and was eligible for immediate furloughs for work, to attend church, and to attend medical appointments.

The case involved, in part, the prescription drug Ambien, a controlled substance that can trigger blackouts, sleep walking, sleep driving, and more.
